OGX finds shale gas in Brazil

OGX Petroleo e Gas Participacoes (OGX PGP) has found shale gas in the Parnaiba onshore basin, in northeastern Brazil

PGP says gas flow from the Devonian shale discovery, 12.5 km from its recent Parnaiba-basin find, supported a 20-metre gas flare on a drill-stem test. OGX PGP says drilling is continuing to a depth of 3,200 metres. OGX Maranhao – owned by OGX PGP (67%) and MPX Energia (33%) – is operating the project.
