Finland - Commissioning of the Olkiluoto 3 nuclear power station will be delayed from the end of 2009 to second-quarter 2010, according to a joint assessment of progress by the constructors, the Areva-Siemens venture, and the owner, TVO. Areva says the setback is because of design changes, the time taken for subcontractors to achieve performance levels and problems with concrete production. Areva describes the facility a 1.6 GW European Pressurised Water reactor as the world's first Generation 3 reactor, with innovative features based on operating experience with the 98 reactors built by the firm.
