Suitors woo San Leon over Morocco oil shale

Ian Lewis, LONDON: San Leon Energy is in discussions with a number of firms over a possible partnership for a pilot project at Morocco’s largest oil-shale deposit, Tarfaya. San Leon, which will operate the Tarfaya pilot, said a number of companies with oil-shale experience had approached it regarding a partnership. A data-room has been opened, including geotechnical information and engineering designs for the project.

“Several firms have expressed a desire to partner with us, confirming our belief that the Tarfaya oil shale represents a significant opportunity as an unconventional play," said Oisin Fanning, San Leon’s chairman.
