China pushes CBM development

Damon Evans, SINGAPORE: China aims to triple coal-bed methane (CBM) output to 30 billion cubic metres a year (cm/y) in 2015 as part of its latest industrial plan. The target, cited by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), is higher than an earlier 21 billion cm/y reported by China Energy News last month, as part of the five-year plan for energy science and technology.

Of the output, 16 billion cm/y will be produced in ground development projects and 14 billion cm will be pumped from coal...
